Overview:
High Performance Blockchain (HPB)
30th of January
Nutshell
- HPB (High-Performance Blockchain) is a block chain hardware and software architecture, which includes a chip acceleration engine and the blockchain platform.
- The aim is to solve the scalability and performance of the currently operating blockchains by working with them.
- It is aiming to be used by the likes of Google, Uber, and BAT or any other projects that require the processing of millions of active users each day.
- Team is based in China and they had ICO in June and July.
Nutshell
Usage
- HBP is considered an EOS of China since it is designed with the goal of being an easy-to-use, high-performance blockchain platform.
- To achieve that HPB was created based on an architecture similar to an API operating system and is introducing something called GVM (General virtual machine )
- GVM is the solution used to allow HPB blockchain to work with other blockchains to enhance them and help them to scale.
- Initially it will be working with NEO and Ethereum. HBP has been deeply involved with NEO from the beginning with angel investment coming from NEO.
Tokens
- The software architecture offers features like accounts, identity and authorization management, policy management, databases, and asynchronous communication across thousands of CPUs.
- The token utility value is providing voting consensus to determine the updates and progress of the project.
- It will also be used to provide data access licenses and requests data (for example, different hospitals' medical records). HPB tokens can be charged for the transaction costs.
Availability and price
- HBP is available on only two exchanges:
- Bibox: 99% of volume
- Allcoin: 1% of volume
This means you pretty much have to use Bibox to purchase the tokens.
- Bitcoin is the more popular pairing (51% of volume), also paired with Ethereum with 49% of volume.
- Current price as of 30th of January is around $X.XX with HBP being ranked on XXXrd place in terms of the market .
- Around 22M out of 100M of the HBP is in the circulation so quite a lot of new tokens will be introduced.
Availability and price
Price graph
The ATH is $13.65 and was achieved on 13th of January not long after exchange listing.
Other aspects
- According to roadmap HPB 1.0 testnet will be launched in March 2018 this is also when it will become open source.
- Mainnet will be launched in June 2016
- There are 16 team members currently listed on the website. There is currently one open positions available.
- There's very detailed roadmap available but it supposed to be updated. The date to look for is May when new version is supposed to be released.
Other aspects
My verdict
- There are big updates upcoming for iExec in the upcoming months.
- The team seems to be concentrating on making partnerships for the dapp store. The dapp challenge result will be annouced on 26th so this should help.
- In terms of the price it has been quite steady until the Binance listing which caused crazy spike.
- I think due to significant development updates upcoming RLC appears to be an interesting option and is currently not in the top 100 in terms of the mcap.
- I personally will hold on for now, but will consider the closer we get to V2.
