Ensuring that he will personally find out who the murderer is and banish him from Thebes.

Peripeteia

You Are The Murderer, you are the unholy defilement of this land

Oedipus summons Tiresias and learns about a prophecy that Tiresias suggests is about Oedipus. The prohecy tells of a son who will grow up, kill his father and commit incest with his mother. After arguing for a while, Tiresias leaves and Oedipus is left angry about what he's learned.

Peripeteia

Oedipus talks to Jocasta about the ubsurd prophecy he learned from Tiresias. As Oedipus tells his story, Jocosta remembers that she was told a similar prophecy by a prophet. This starts to worry Oedipus and makes him beleive that it might be true.

Laius was fated to die by the hand of his son, a son to be born to him and to me

Peripeteia

You gave me to him? Did you... buy me? or find me somewhere?

A shepherd from Corinth brings a message for Oedipus. Oedipus is told that his father, Polybus, died and that he is now king of Corinth. But as he learns of this, he also finds out that he was found by a shepherd and adopted as a baby by Polybus. This makes Oedipus very tense and scared about the prophecy being true. He demands he needs to meet the shepherd that saved him.

Anagnorisis

The child would kill its parents, that was the story

Oedipus finds the shepherd and starts to interogate him. After interogating and torturing the shepherd, the shepherd says that he, Oedipus, is the son of Lauis and Jacosta and was doomed to die. Fearing the prophecy, Jocasta handed her son after his birth to the shepherd to be destroyed.

Falling Action

Jocasta later learns that the prophecy is true and out of grief and shame decides to take her life by hanging herself.

Jocasta, our queen, is dead. From what cause? By her own hand

Catastrophe

Ripped out the golden pins, raised them above his head and speared his pupils

Oedpius finds Jocasta hanging and out of his own greif and shame stabs his eyes multiple times blinding himself. He then loses sanity and spirals into madness bannishing himself, essentially ending his life as he knows it.
