What are rainforests and where they found
One third of the world's tropical rainforests are in Brazil. Other tropical rainforests are located in Southeast Asia and the Pacific Islands (25% of the world's tropical rainforests) and West Africa (18%). Temperate rainforests are found along some coasts in temperate zones.

Rain forests are divided into four layers, or stories: emergent layer, canopy, understory, and forest floor. Each layer receives a different amount of sunlight and rainfall, so different types of animals and plants are found in each layer.

As well as the vivid beauty that comes with great diversity in plants and animals, rainforests also play a practical role in keeping our planet healthy. By absorbing carbon dioxide and releasing the oxygen that we depend on for our survival. The absorption of this CO2 also helps to stabilize the Earth's climate.
