The Sinking of The Lusitania

The sinking of the Lusitania

In 1915 a German U-boat sunk a British luxury steam ship Killing 1,195 people,128 of which were American. This would immediately sour relations between the two countries and made it harder for America to remain neutral.

The Zimmerman telegram

The Zimmerman telegram

The Zimmerman telegram was a telegram sent from Germany to Mexico with the proposal that in the case that the United States declares war on Germany, Mexico would fight the United States with the promise of reclaiming land in Texas,New Mexico, and Arizona, which they lost during the Mexican-American War. Before the telegram was received The British intercepted it and exposed it to the Americans. This was considered the tipping point that led America to join the war.
