Where is Pennsylvania?

One of the Middle Colonies is Pennsylvania, located near the Atlantic coast of North America. However, it's an Inland colony. It fell between the Puritan colonies of New England and the Anglican colonies of the South. Pennsylvania was also enraptured by New York, which was above it, New Jersey, on the right side, and Delaware and Maryland, mainly below the colony, where they were perceived on the map and land.

Who founded Pennsylvania?

William Penn was known for finding Pennsylvania. This land was desired because Penn was one of the Quackers. He wished for a land that required his and the colonists' freedom and practiced their beliefs. Not forgetting, they hated to bow down to the king, for they believed their one and the only King was their God, Jesus Christ. Not only was bowing down to the king a problem for the fellow Quackers, but also fighting in a war, treating other races harshly, and paying taxes to the Church of England were other possible reasons why they wanted to own a land where their laws and freedoms applied.

The new experience of the new weather

The central climate most Europeans experienced during other times in different locations was quite different from what they came across. It was breezy and cold in winter, and frostbites were popular during December and January periods. However, during the summer, it was humid and hot enough to instead jump in a lake and fan your way out of the distribution.

Geography

What landforms and landscapes would grasp the attention of your eyes?

The fertile soil was an excellent natural resource in the colony because it would increase the types of trade between different regions. The stunning wildlife you'd find in Pennsylvania is Rolling Hills, trees, valleys, and wooded mountains. Since wood played a massive role during the time, it was used for shipbuilding.

What Religion was practiced?

The purpose for the colonists to start living in Pennsylvania was because they were unwelcome in England, which sought them to look for land to provide freedom to worship anytime without fretting about hardship. Any other religions were welcomed, and peacefulness was the top most known thing in that area. The religion there consisted of different faiths.

Major Cities/Destinations

Where should I go first as a visitor in Pennsylvania?

Your first trip should be in the cities because most farm life is not as pleasant as in the confused city. Markets may be found throughout the city, and the first thing one notices are the fishermen and farmers displaying their products. If you wish to hear other people's conversations, head to the Taverns, where all the colonists meet to eat and drink while gossiping about the new colonies. Finally, the nearby streets are lined with shops waiting for customers to service them. The blacksmith, shoemaker, clockmaker, craftspeople, and others may be on the next street. However, the cities are not as fragile as they appear. The most unpleasant aspect is how loud it is. The overcrowded people's voices are as loud as sirens, as is the clatter of the carts, while street animals groan and church bells ring at various times. It was not only noisy, but it was also smelly. A lack of public health is to be expected. The nasty odors combine to annoy your likeness. They smell like rotting garbage and open sewers, and the worst thing is that the colonists didn't mind!!

Economy

What were the major economic businiesses?

The colonists had their ways of making money through trade. They had many natural resources that surrounded them, such as fertile soil for farming crops. Dairy was one of them, and merchants, tradesman, lumbering, and shipbuilding followed along. However, living on a farm wasn't as jolly as you'd find it, for the farmers had to clear the land of thick vegetation, like trees, using only the following tools: axes and saws. Not only was farming a laborious task, but their home was a single large room where they cooked, ate, and slept all at once.

Colonists Background

Colonial Circumstances and background

As mentioned before, the first colonists who came up with the idea of seeking freedom for their own time to practice religion without fear were called the Quackers. Alongside, other groups sought the identical decision for freedom because they experienced the same concerns. Those who followed shared different cultures: French, Dutch, Germans, Swedes, Danes, Finns, Scots, Irish, and English.

Social Life

Did the colonists work their fingers to the bones only?

It's difficult to believe that leisure was a part of colonial life since, when we read about it, it seems like it was all about work, work, work, and saving money in order to purchase your own property and rest in your wealth. But the settlers would sometimes put an end to that by organizing enjoyable events to distract them from their unhappy lives. Fairs may seem unusual, but the colonies nailed it. Fairs were held, and people of all ages were present. They were there to participate in and compete in contests for smart rewards. Footraces, wrestling battles, dancing contests, and wild scrambles comprised the majority of competitions featured. If it was your lucky day, you better cheer with joy for you'd win a greased pig!

The Punishments and Crimes

Colonists who disobeyed the law were not forgiven. If they were caught committing well-known crimes such as murder, treason, and piracy, they were condemned to die. If a robbery is suspected, the criminal will be beaten, imprisoned, or branded with iron. If a citizen was caught drunk and breaking the Sabbath, he might face a short jail term or public humiliation. For example, if someone violated the Sabbath by doing any labor or traveling elsewhere, they would be confined in town stocks, which consisted of a heavy wooden frame with openings for a person's neck, wrists, and ankles. The most famous moment of the massive wooden building was in every TV show or movie we watched as kids when the awful-bad-guy gets punished, and citizens mock him by throwing rotting vegetables at him in public.

What did I find most intreseting about my colony?

The colony stood out to me because it was the first colony to maintain peace between native Americans while also treating African Americans more humanely than any other colony!
