The husband of Mary, Joseph is a descendant of David and the father of Jesus, who was born in Bethlehem.

He is a masculine name of Hebrew origin that derives from Yôsef

He lived in Nazareth as a carpenter and apparently died before the public life of Jesus

patron of the universal church..

200 B.C.

Saint Joseph embodies the virtues of honesty, love of work and unshakable faith in God.

Saint Joseph married Maria

In 1870, he was appointed Patron of the Universal Church. He is also the Patron saint of carpenters and the dying.

One of the first titles used to honor him was “Nutritor Domini” which means “Guardian of the Lord”

The solemnity of Saint Joseph is on March 19 and the feast of Saint Joseph the worker (International Labor Day) is on May 1. It is also included in the Feast of the Holy Family (December 30) and is undoubtedly part of the history of Christmas
