First Phone Ever

On March 1876, Alexander Graham Bell created the first phone. Actually, in 1876 he granted its patent. A few days later he made the first call and the first words he said were “Mr. Watson, come here. I want you.”

Alexander Graham Bell and Gardiner Greene Hubbard formed this telephone company in July 1877. In 1879 it joined the New England Telephone and Telegraph Company, creating the National Bell Telephone Company. Finally, in 1880 the American Bell Telephone Company was born.

In 1891 Almon Brown Strowger patented this new telephone. He believed that his local operator was directing all business calls to his competitor. Strowger felt that operators should not have control over calls.

In March 1926 the first transatlantic call was made. It was made from London, England to New York, United States.

  • A telephone , or phone, is a telecommunications device that permits two or more users to conduct a conversation when they are too far apart to be heard directly.

  • It converts sound, normally the human voice, into electronic signals that are transmitted via cables and other communication channels to another telephone which reproduces the sound to the receiving user.

  • It solved the problems of the telegraph in 1876.
