- Jesuits founded schools, Colleges, Universities and Hospitals

- They allowed people who are not catholic to come to New France and be apart of the royal colony
- the more settlers the more priests they needed for the seigneurs and the town
- The seminary trained boys for priest hood
- Ursuline sisters were the first nuns that arrived in New France
- today people voluntarily worship God participate in religious activities
- In New France Roman Catholic Church was in charge of all aspects of life politics, economics not just religion
- It wasn't just religion it was in charge of everything

- Bishop (responsible for the local Church and serves under pope
- Priest (under Bishop)
- Pastor (same level as priest)

What Changes did the Arrival of the Roman Catholic religion Have on the lifestyle of the First Nations People?
- Samuel de Champlain brought the Catholics to New France to try to convert aboriginals so he could get more power from followers
- They had sinister desire to bring Christianity to aboriginals
- they helped them learn to read and write
