What Was the Initial purpose of the Roman Catholic Church

  • They allowed people who are not catholic to come to New France and be apart of the royal colony
  • the more settlers the more priests they needed for the seigneurs and the town
  • The seminary trained boys for priest hood
  • Ursuline sisters were the first nuns that arrived in New France
  • today people voluntarily worship God participate in religious activities
  • In New France Roman Catholic Church was in charge of all aspects of life politics, economics not just religion
  • It wasn't just religion it was in charge of everything
