The holiday that came to us from America, contrary to appearances, does not come from there. This custom, celebrated on October 31, that is, on the eve of All Saints' Eve, goes back to the ancient Celtic tradition, living long before the beginning of our era today in England, Ireland, Scotland, Wales and northern France.
The name Halloween comes from the expression "All Hallows' Eve", which means All Saints' Eve, when people prayed for the dead before All Saints' Day on November 1.
Halloween practices commonly cultivated in the Middle Ages were called Wonderland Night. It is also worth adding here that over 2,000 years ago, October 31 was the day when three parties were celebrated three times: summer was farewell, winter was welcomed and the feast of the dead was celebrated.
This is a fairly new holiday because it has been celebrated since 1990 but we are celebrating it more every year.
The Celts believed that the freed spirits of the dead were circling the Halloween night around us. The black costume was supposed to confuse the spirit, who thought he was dealing with "his" and left him alone.
today, children dress up and go home to collect candy.
Young people and children, apart from organizing home parties, often visit terrible farms, large spaces adapted for this purpose, where special sceneries are created, which look like a set decoration of horror films such as Dracula, Frankenstein or Mumia.
Halloween fun also includes trick-or-treating activities. Children walk around the area with candy cans and visit the locals. If someone doesn't want to give candy, they get treat from the children.
In this game you should bite one of the apples floating in a bowl with water without using your hands. An apple that is not damaged while playing is supposed to mean happiness in the coming year.
