The Solution

In India, Aga Khan schools designed a home based learning programme that includes learning packets which contain reading books, flashcards, vocabulary cards and art materials, sciences resources. It is aimed for students aged 3-6 and 100 children are using it.

Ethical Guidelines

Ethical Guidelines

Ethic 1

Values and integrity in the next generation is the spotlight of this ethic. They want children to have confidence and respect so that these qualities help them in creating a positive change in society as well as keeping an open

mind to others perspectives.

Ethic 2

Ethic of Compassion and Sharing because teachers share their knowledge with their students and compassion because education is open to everyone, no matter of anyhthing.

Ethic 3

Ethic of self reliance because the poor and the deprived are encouraged to fix the holes in their life by working hard for it.

Ethic 4

Ethic of Sustainable Environment: Physical, Social and Cultural because young people are molded to improve their living conditions and the living conditions of the people around them

Impact on our world

  • Creates an understanding environment between educated individuals
  • Makes sure that the young are equipped with knowledge that allows effective interaction as well as the making of a pluralistic society

Ethic of Governance as

Its Q & A time!

Thank you!

To me, the astounding artefacts, the artwork, the design of the building and the incorporation of dance and music to showcase different cultures is what drew my attention to this museum. All of this brings a sense of a pluralistic society and we get to appreciate different modes of expression and be able to socialise with and learn about different ways of life.

Why?

The Aga Khan Museum holds valuable information that interlinks the history of Islamic communities which gives us an oppurtunity to connect with, as Ismailis, with our own past, but also make new connections to the modern and diverse world we live in today. This is also portrayed by his Highness The Aga Khan: "-cultural threads that weave through history binding us all together."

Impact

This Museum aims to create make civilisations more inclusive and peace oriented through distinct media. It provides a platform for social and cultural interaction that everyone can cherish.

The Museum upholds the ethics outlined in the AKDN Ethical Framework.

These are : Ethic of Inclusiveness, Ethic of Education and Research, Ethic of compassion and sharing & The Ethic of Sustainable Environment.

The Museum exhibits connections between humanity and educates everyone on new and old ideas that are related to cultural basis. This feeds curiousity and broadens the wings of our minds. This knowledge is shared and is held preserved in the museum which ensures a sustainable social and physical environment.

Ethics & Values

This leaves us with a positive motto for the future of education of Muslim practices.

Inspiring Quote

Cultural connection will be at the heart of the Museum’s mission: to increase and illuminate the dialogue between different Muslim civilisations themselves and between those civilisations and non-Muslim civilisations.

Prince Amyn Aga Khan

Toronto, September 2014

As a future leader...

I would like to uphold the ethical values of inclusiveness and continue to promote pluralism as a way of accepting and appreciating our individualities while still being a community as a whole. I would also focus on the Ethic of education and research which is an ongoing process of life so as to be able to gain more knowledge and be able to use that to become good stewards of the earth we are living on.
