The General
George Washington was in the Revolutionary War. He crossed the famous Delaware River. His army fought the British. They won a few battles but began to lose. Wshington asked for help from France. They sent food, supplies, and more men. This helped win the American Revolution on October 17, 1981.

On April 30, 1789 George Washington became the first President. Everyone voted for him. He won again in 1793. He created taxes which made all the farmer upset.

Life and Death
George Washington was a great president. He retired after being president for 8 years. The people wanted him to be president longer but he did not want to. He went back to his home to Mount Vernon. He died on December 14, 1799.
