3rd Person Omniscient.

Plot

Dahong Palay tells the story of Sebio, a young man who works in the rice fields for his Tia Binay. He was teased and became the laughing topic, he was eventually challenged by Pacio but failed. He was bitten by a deadly snake who was called a "Dahong - Palay" that tried to bite a girl named Merci. This situation showed Sebio's strength and courage that gave him the respect of the village people.

Exposition

Exposition

It was a normal day of Sebio cutting wood with an ax. He was described to be quite tall, has a flat chest, has a long neck and his legs are thin. He was on of the boys who the village people said "the ones who grew too fast".

Rising Action

They had a discussion, the discussion was supposed to about the “big snake,” that turned into a competition between Pabio and Sebio. A competition to win Merci’s heart. Sebio was defeated and he was ashamed decided to rest to a corner wanting to leave.

Climax

Climax

As Sebio was striking at a hay pile, Merci screamed as if she was being murdered. Sebio was confused and looked around to see a deadly snake ready to attack Merci. When he had a chance he completely missed it causing for the snake to bite the calf of Sebio's leg.

Falling Action

Falling Action

The village people panicked as they saw Sebio's legs oozing dark blood and close to being unconcious. They tried to look for possible solutions on how to cleanse the bite of the Dahong Palay snake. Sebio was in pain, he asked for a knife and the village people was confused on why he needs it.

Resolution

Resolution

He was given a large knife and he wrapped a cloth around the end of a horseshoe then moved it near the fire. He then slashed the knife into the two bites and pressed the glowing hot horseshoe after. Someone held him and before he became unconcious the people said that they will never call him "Sebiong Pasmado" ever again.

Additional Elements

Additional

Death: Individual VS Society

This is the theme since Sebio was mostly trying to prove that he is strong not like what the village people are saying about him.

Theme

Man VS Society and

Man VS Nature

Conflict

The conflict is man VS society since he was belittled by the village people just because of his appearance. The conflict is also part man VS nature because Sebio was harmed by a snake that caused him to be unconscious by the blood lost.

Don't judge a person's ability by their appearance.

Moral

This is the moral since the village people belittled him because of his body image but they change their perceptions after Sebio proved that he is strong by slicig the two bites and placing a very hot horseshoe on it.
