General Motors introduced the first heads-up display in a car in 1988 and the systems were originally used for showing speed, tachometer and other basic readings from the dashboard.
HUD was created to give pilots and other drivers a better point of view while driving.
H.U.D stands for Heads Up Display which is a display of instrument readings in an aircraft or vehicle that can be seen without lowering the eyes, typically through being projected onto the windshield or visor.
