Book Summary
In the begging of the book The Cay there was a boy named Phillip. Phillip took advantage of things. Phillip also thought mean things about different raced people then him. There was a war and Phillips mom wanted to leave the island. The dad of Phillip stayed behind. The ship Phillip was on got torpedoed. A black man saved Phillip when Phillip got hit by something that made him go unconscious. In the middle of the book Phillip then was in the middle raft blind with a man he didn't know and a cat. They hardly had food. Then Timothy the man he didn't know bought them to the cay which is a island. Timothy taught Phillip things to do even though he was blind. Near the end a storm came and Timothy protected Phillip sadly Timothy died when the storm ended. Phillip then got rescued, got his sight back
and went back to living with his family.
Most importantly Phillip learned that all
races are equal.
Favorite Character
My favorite character is Timothy. One reason I like Timothy is because he is kind. Timothy is kind because he taught Phillip how to survive on his own in case Timothy sadly passed. Timothy is caring because he saved Phillip, when they got torpedoed, and Phillip got hit by something and passed out. Timothy is uneducated. Timothy asked Phillip how to spell help because he did not know how to spell it. These are some of the reasons why Timothy is my favorite character.

Review
I would rate The Cay 5 stars. I gave The Cay 5 stars because the book was happy and sad. The sad part was when Timothy was protecting Phillip, but Timothy died. Another sad part was when Phillip went blind. A happy part was when Phillip got rescued and got to see his friends and parents. One other happy part was when Phillip got his sight back when he went to the doctors. I recommend this book for years 9 and older.
Settings
The settings took place on a island called Curacao before they went on the boat and got torpedoed. Phillip then with Timothy and Stew cat drifted to a island called The Cay. On The Cay they were outside all the time because all the had was a small little hut to live in. Then when Phillip got rescued he went back to living on the island Curacao. Those are the settings in the book the The Cay.
