Incubation
- Fulgencio Batista rose to power and tried to make a democratic gov
- After he stepped down in 1944 Ramon martin took over was corrupt and bad at governing
- Batista made a deal with the American mafia and allowed them to do whatever they wanted in Cuba
- He tried to use the money to throw a coup before the election and then made himself dictator

- Fidel Castro made a revolutionary group against Batista
- Castro thought only way to get Batista out was force
- 1953 Castro led 119 rebels to attack the army barracks in Moncada which didn't work
- When he was in prison everyone heard what happened and when in court gave a speech that persuaded the majority of people

- When in Mexico were Fidel fled in fear of death he put into plan the overthrow
- When they made in back they collected weapons and used guerrilla tactics
- As he gained fame other rebel groups saw and joined the overthrow attempt
- Batista, scared fled after he realized he wouldn't win

- Castro rises to power and then declares Cuba as a communist country
- Some people dislike this but some stay and fully support Castro
- This causes the USA to not like Cuba and events like Bay of pigs, and the Cuban missile crisis unfold.
- A trade embargo was put on Cuba
- Barack Obama released it and now we are one better terms with Cuba
