Introduction

What are rainforest and where are they found ?

  • Tropical rainforests are forests with tall trees, warm climates, and lots of rain. In some rainforests it rains more than one inch nearly every day of the year!
  • Rainforests are found in Africa, Asia, Australia, and Central and South America. The largest rainforest in the world is the Amazon rainforest in South America.

What are rainforest and where are they found ?

The 4 layers of the rainforest

the layers of the rainforest are :

  • Emergent Layer
  • Canopy Layer
  • Understory
  • Forest Floor

  • Emergent Layer

These giant trees thrust above the dense canopy layer and have huge mushroom-shaped crowns.

  • Canopy Layer

The broad, irregular crowns of these trees form a tight, continuous canopy 60 to 90 feet above the ground.

  • Understory

Receiving only 2-15% of the sunlight that falls on the canopy, the understory is a dark place.

  • Forest Floor

The forest floor receives less than 2% of the sunlight and consequently, little grows here except plants adapted to very low light.

conclusion

  • As well as the vivid beauty that comes with great diversity in plants and animals, rainforests also play a practical role in keeping our planet healthy. By absorbing carbon dioxide and releasing the oxygen that we depend on for our survival. The absorption of this CO2 also helps to stabilize the Earth's climate
