Other philosophies of REA

Other philosophies of REA

- Inclusive program

- Value diversity and children with different abilities -> welcomes children and families of all ethnicity, backgrounds, beliefs and abilities, including those with complex needs.

- Aesthetic Approach: art and beauty should be embraced in the educational environment. Each toys, books and materials are purposely chosen to foster children imagination.

Formal Evaluation

Formal Evaluation

>Positive and significant effects:

>Related to socio-emotional skills, high school graduation.

>Generated from the comparisons of the treated with individuals who did not receive formal child care.

>Individuals exposed to alternative forms of child care do not yield strong patterns of positive and significant effects.

>Mother-Child Interactions and Family environment.

>Child care/ home-based care.

>Quality makes difference when choosing child care centre.

>Tells us about the interest of the child and in which field he/ she can do better.

>Putting it all together.

Implications and why it is important

Implications:

Importance

1. We encourage each child’s Inquiring Mind.

2. We value the Environment as the third teacher.

3. We are passionate about embedding a Community.

4. Hundred languages of children.

5. The role of the Educator.

6. Openness in Schools.

Environment As third teacher

It is well to say that but turning it into reality needs effort. It is important : => Educators explore and are aware of how to use open spaces and how to invite children to interact.

=> Educators listen closely to children's conversations.

=> Educators allow walls of centre to speak.

=> Educators carefully select materials and resources for play.

Image of the instructor

1.)The instructor should listen to the child and recognize their interests and ideas.

2.)Enables information to be shared between children and instructors.

3.)seeks to uncover children’s theories and their ways of understanding.

4.) views himself/herself as both a researcher and a learner.

5.) challenges children to extend on their understandings and supports them through this.

In order for an early childhood centre to be united with the

principles of Reggio Emilia, the curriculum must :

- provide unlimited possibilities for the child.

- be carefully planned yet allowing room for flexibility dependent on the children’s responses and interactions.

- be child-directed. This means building on the child’s interests and including both short-term and long-term projects.

- include resources and activities that both challenge and communicate children’s thinking processes and understandings.

- emphasise processes of communicating and thinking.

Curriculum

Our Evaluation

- Did not mention much about outdoor play

- A great place that has inclusive program, and welcome every children with any abilities.

- Great place to start for parents who want their children to explore art and create their own piece of arts.
