Info

Piggy

Piggy

Piggy is one of the older boys. He has spectacles, is fat or chubby, has asthma, and seems like he wants to fit in with the others. Piggy is one of the weakest on the island in terms of physical strength, but is very smart or intelligent.

Simon

Simon

Simon is a small and skinny boy with brown hair and bright eyes. Simon is considered shy, secretive, odd, and strange. One thing about Simon is he tends to go off on his own and is not very strong.

Piggy

How it happend

In Chapter 11, Roger releases a huge boulder in Piggy's direction. After he was struck by the boulder his head opened and stuff gushed out and turned red. Piggy's arms and legs twitched a bit, like a pig after it had been killed.

How it

Happend

Simon

In Chapter 9, Back at the beach another ritual dance has begun during the night. Simon comes to tell the boys that he has found out that the Beastie is just a dead parachutist. While doing so the boys think that Simon is the Beastie. So the boys descend upon Simon and start to brutally tear him apart. Simon desperately tries to explain the situation and tries to remind them who he is, but it is too late and the boys have already lost control. Thinking he is the Beastie, they kill Simon.

Piggy

Cause

In Chapter 11, Ralph, Piggy, and the twins go to Jack's group to get back Piggy's spectacles and the signal fire. Piggy has bad sight and picks up the conch and then starts lecturing the boys.

Cause

Simon

In Chapter 9, Simon is extremely sick, and is hallucinating that the pig head on a stake is talking to him. He also finds out that the "Beastie" is just a parachutist, he then goes to tell the boys that are at the ritual.

Piggy

Effect

After Piggy's death, Simon's death, and Sam and Eric's forced alliance with Jack's tribe, Ralph is left alone on the island. Ralph is doomed to defeat with no support or alliance. Another effect of Piggy's death is that it signifies a victory of violence and brutality over wisdom and kindness.

Effect

Simon

After Simon's death the boys realize that Simon was a Jesus-like character who represented the good in humanity. Simon's death signifies the death of goodness that was left on the island.
