I open a can of tuna and my cat gets excited. This repeated observation leads me to know by acquaintance that my cat associates the sound and smell of the can being opened for a possibility of being fed. The correspondence between my observations and the reaction of my cat validates my understanding of their preferences.

Coherence

I am trying a new type of coffee which I thoroughly enjoy. Wanting to know more about this taste, I research where the coffee comes from and its roasting process. The exploration between me finding out more information about this coffee connects to my personal experience of how the coffee tastes. This coherence creates more of a comprehensive understanding of the coffee’s flavor.

Pragmatism

Mr.Ricciardi moves to Toronto and gains knowledge of “best food places” from the locals. Based on these suggestions he tries each one of these restaurants, testing and trying out what’s on their menu. Through direct experience he acquires knowledge on the best places for food in Toronto.

I believe that the earth is round based on scientific evidence. By referring to empirical data about the earth being spherical and not flat, I find correspondence that reinforces my knowledge.

Coherence

I believe that smoking increases the risk of lung cancer based on medical research and consensus. This belief coheres with established evidence that coordinates with the broader understanding in the medical field.

Pragmatism

I believe that proper time management increases productivity based on personal experience. By implementing time management into my day to day life and seeing results. I validate my knowledge on time management because I can see that it leads to increased productivity.

Correspondence

I want to know which planet is the largest in our solar system. Through research, I find that Jupiter is in fact the largest planet. For my question of “what is the largest planet?”, this corresponds with the scientific evidence of Jupiter being the largest.

Coherence

I want to know which smartphone has the best camera. In exploration I find that companies like Apple, Samsung, and Google offer the best camera quality. This provides a coherent answer because it is the same answer that experts and users have.

Pragmatism

I want to know what I’m doing in my math class because I'm completely lost. My teacher makes a pragmatic approach in asking specific questions about the topic. Based on my responses, my teacher gives me alternative strategies and guidance to get me to further understand the unit.

When teaching someone how to ride a bike, I would demonstrate how to ride by mounting on the bike, giving pedaling techniques, steering tips, and teaching how to brake. This would mean that I would be using knowledge-how which corresponds to the reality of riding a bike.

Coherence

I learnt guitar through a coherent manner. My teacher gave me logical steps covering aspects of the guitar to further guide me on learning how to play it, ,music theory, chords, strumming patterns. Through this, I developed my skills in an instructed and interconnected way.

Pragmatism

If I want to learn how to make a pizza. I would go through thorough research to find the best pizza to make. I would take a pragmatic approach to get the acquired knowledge-How for making this pizza. I would focus on the practical techniques, rolling dough and choosing the right ingredients in an attempt to master the baking procedure. This would be a pragmatic approach and would develop my knowledge-How for making a good pizza.
