Staying Faithful in Tough Times
Hardship is part of our calling to follow Jesus
For you know quite well that we are destined for [trials]. In fact, when we were with you, we kept telling you that we would be persecuted. And it turned out that way, as you well know. (1 Thessalonians 3:3b-4)
We must be faithful because the gospel is true.
We must be faithful because God promises eternal glory
....and to reject the gospel is to face God's wrath and condemnation forever
We stay faithful by actively living for God in community
Because we loved you so much, we were delighted to share with you not only the gospel of God but our lives as well. . . . For you know that we dealt with each of you as a father deals with his own children, encouraging, comforting and urging you to live lives worthy of God, who calls you into his kingdom and glory.
