The Reason

During this time women weren't treated as equals to men and they were granted the same right and lifestyles as men. It was preferred and women became wives, raise their children, and be seen and not heard. It would considered unusual if a women decided to speak out against her husband or ''disobey him'' by not doing what HE expected of her. The convention gave women the opportunity to voices their opinions and be heard by other women (and some men who supported).

What was the reason?

Reactions by the public!

Reactions?

Of course the convention was subject to backlash and ridicule by people who didn't think women deserved more freedom. In response to what was happening at the convention, many people retracted their support, but in the end it was the beginning of the woman suffrage movement and it influenced many more to come after.

Life After the Convention

Life Afterward?

Over 70 years after the Convention(1920), the U.S. ratified the 19th amendment and it granted women the right to vote which is the only issue that wasn't resolved at Seneca. After that, the convention led to a spike in prominent women leaders in the 1950s and 60s.
