Electronic Brake Performance Monitoring System

(EBPMS)

What is EBPMS?

EBPMS records fleet's trailer braking data to provide an overview of the braking system's performance for real-time monitoring.

Who Needs EBPMS?

Fleet Managers and Workshop Managers.

Why do you need EBPMS?

  • Helps meet safety, compliance and maintenance requirements
  • Gives greater control for more efficient operation of fleets.
  • Keeps your vehicles on the road earning money.

EBPMS Reporting

PRODUCES REPORTS ON DEMAND TO

Monitor the braking performance status of a whole fleet.

Ensure fleet's braking performance and systems maintenance are:

  • Within the terms of your operator's licence agreement.
  • Meeting DVSA guidelines.

DVSA Recommended Best Practice "Guide to Maintaining CVs Roadworthiness"

  • 4 calibrated roller brake tests per year.
  • Performed at Vehicle Testing Stations.

Under New DVSA Earned Recognition Scheme

  • Operators required to share their EBPMS data to demonstrate compliance.
  • Operators rewarded with fewer compliance checks for shared data.
  • EBPMS could reduce DVSA requirements to 1 calibrated roller brake test per annum.
  • Ministry test only needed for 1 of the 4 brake roller tests per annum.

EBPMS Brake Performance Monitoring Report

Graph measuring the number of brake applications in relation to the ECE Brake Performance Range.

This shows the braking performance is within the acceptable ECE Brake Performance Range.

EBPMS Braking Performance

Individual trailer reports alert operators of under-performing brakes for investigation.

  • Report data can indicate issues such as brake failure, kinked airlines etc.
  • On public highways, brake failures can lead to prohibitions which can result in driver fines or impact upon the operator's licence.
  • Fleet reports provide comparable historical data, to enable brake performance trend analysis.

Critical EBS Alarms

Alarms visible on the EBPMS portal and sent by email.

Alarms notify you of all EBS issues for rapid identification:

  • EBS Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs).
  • Axle load status.
  • Roll Stability.
  • EBS stop light.
  • EBS warning lights (amber/red)
  • ABS interventions.

Asset Usage

Benchmark trailer maintenance intervals.

Summery of EBPMS Benefits

Fleet Manager- Has full visibility of the braking performance of each trailer within his fleet to meet safety, compliance and maintenance requirements.

Maintenance Manager- Alerts notify of any defective brake performance for investigation to schedule repair and maintenance.

DVSA Earned Recognition Scheme. Sharing EBPMS data demonstrates compliance under new DVSA scheme.

Keeping Your Trailers on the Road Earning Money. Ministry test only needed for 1 of the 4 brake roller tests per annum.
