Poetry was one way that people were really able to connect with others of the outside world. The poems told others what was really happening. Poets of the time came from both sides. The next two poems came from writers that were not in the middle of fighting. Though, they do describe the horrors of what happened in the WWII years.

This art was created by Edith Birkin. It is called "Ghosts: A Camp of Twins". It is representation of how twins, especially Jewish twins, were used in Auschwitz.
Edith Birkin is a holocaust surviver of Auschwitz and the death march to Flossenburg camp. These marches were where the prisoners would be forced to walk across the country barefoot and starving. Many would attempt to run away and be shot or died of natural causes. Even though she ended up surviving, she said the worst part of the whole war was the end because she found out none of her family had survived.
The children of the Holocaust were artists in the concentration camps and created some of the most pieces of all time.
