The mongols helped increase trade and cultural diffusion between Europe and Asia. The mongols guaranteed safe passage across the silk road because everyone was scared of them.

- One positive is that many technologies like gunpowder and the compass were able to reach Europe.

- One negative is that diseases also spread to Europe like the Black Death

Weapons

Magnetic Compass:

The magnetic compass was beneficial in trade and helped travelers and merchants find their way to different empires.

Kublai Khan ruled over the most significant khanate by mongols in China. He created a new era called the Yuan Dynasty. He also really enjoyed China and chinese culture so much, he ended up moving the Mongolian capital to China. Even though he loved China so much he never allowed the chinese to serve in high government offices. He increased foreign trade with China and built roads and extended the grand canal to help improve transportation. After he died the chinese overthrew the Mongols and started the Ming Dynasty.

China

The mongol empire was weakened because of the death of Kublai. The Mongols lost control of Persia and central Asia. Russia also gained independence from Mongol rule. After the death of Genghis the empire was also split into 4 different pieces with no central power. It was hard to keep under control and ended up failing.
