THE CROWN

THE CROWN

This is what makes Canada a Constitutional Monarchy. The monarch has representatives in Canada appointed by the Prime Minister because the crown has little to almost no power in most decisions made in Canada's government.

GOVERNOR GENERAL

The governor general is the representative of the Sovereignty, yet they do not have much power. They carry out what is known as royal acsent. They are appointed by the Queen with the reccomendation of the PM.

The king or queen is normally not in Canada this is why they are represented by the GOVERNOR GENERAL.

THE HEAD OF CANADA'S GOVERNMENT

PRIME MINISTER

The Prime Minister or PM, is the head of Canada's government and has alot of influence in the decisions made. To become the PM you must be the head of a political party and have the most seats in the House of Commons.

To win seats in the House of Commons you must win the most votes in a riding, and to become a PM, you must win the most ridings in all of Canada.

CABINET

The Cabinet

For example, the Honourable, Diane Lebouthiller is the minister of national revenue

The Members of the Cabinet, better known as Cabinet Ministers are appointed porfolios (a department) by the PM with specific tasks to manage. They usually create the ideas that turn into laws. They are also appointed by the PM, but are also usually members of Parliament already.

THE SUPREME COURT

Information about the Supreme Court Judges

The supreme court is the highest court in the Canadian government. The Supreme Court's word is final, this means that the Supreme Court has the final decisions on passing bills and court cases that may make it to the supreme court.

Why?

SUPREME COURT

Its rare for court cases to make it to the supreme court.

Why?

The only Court cases that make it to the supreme court are instances where the charter of rights and freedoms is either being violated of questioned.

SUPREME COURT JUDGES

Surpreme Court Judges

Supreme Court Judges are appointed by the Prime Minister. In court, they deal with laws that violate the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, interpret and apply laws, and they deal with Canada's fundamental values. They can only work on issues that have already passed through the House of Commons.

MEDIA

The media is a strong way of sharing ideas with other groups and people, as in daily life, we are exposed to many types of media, such as commercials, news broadcasts, and even apps on our phones. These ways of media can alter our perspectives, point of view, and create bias. Bias can be very harmful, as it can present itself in a magazine by showing one perspective only, creating a change. It can make opinions formed with bias. The media is strong because of how powerful it is towards politicians. Ads like attack ads can bring down a politician, but it can also help politicians with slogans and billboards

MEDIA & BIAS

LOBBYIST
