The Executive Branch

Who is this?

The Executive Branch

The President!

What is the President's role?

To enforce or carry out the laws, he is the Comander and Cheif of the armed forces.

What is the President's role?

The president may also suggest laws to the legislative branch.

How does he check the other branches?

The President can check the legislative branch by vetoing a law. The legislative branch can override this with a 2/3 vote.

The president also can appoint the judges to the supreme court and smaller courts

Congress's man job is to write, debate, and pass laws.

Checks on other branches

The Legislative branch keeps the President's power in check with the ability to override a veto with 2/3 of the votes.

It also has the ability to impeach judges.

The Judicial Branch

This is the court system, which consists of federal district courts, appeals courts, and the Supreme Court.

What does it do?

The Supreme Court is composed of nine judges. They are appointed by the president and serve for life, or until retirement.

It's function

The Supreme court decides whether or not laws are in accordance with the Constitution.

How it checks other branches?

It checks the legeslative branch by making sure that the laws passed follow the Constitution.

It checks the Excutive branch by ruling it's actions unconstitutional.
