Professional Programs

The Bachelor of Education is also a great program to start in if you are looking at other professional programs or graduate programs:

  • Business
  • Law
  • Speech Language Pathology
  • Counselling Psychology
  • Special Education

"When I came to University, I was primarily interested in Law. However, receiving an undergraduate degree is strongly advised before attempting to enter the Faculty...I realized that entering the Faculty of Education would provide more applicable skills, such as speaking and situation management, as well as be more marketable on its own. It also provides a good career that I would be interested in if I chose not to pursue Law."

TIPS

  • Refer to your Collaborative Middle Years Planning Guide & Transfer Alberta. Credit will be officially evaluated once we receive your complete application
  • Apply as early as possible! For Fall 2020, you can apply as early as October 1, 2019
  • Check your ualberta email and Bear Tracks account weekly & ensure your Bear Tracks To Do List items are complete
  • If you have items on your To Do List that you must arrange to have sent to our Registrar's Office, make sure those are sent in ASAP (ex. IB/AP, out of province transcripts)

  • Note: Your RDC transcript may continue to read "Outstanding" throughout the year - this is most likely because you are still in coursework and we will need to continue to request your transcripts as new grades come in!

Successful Transfer Tips

Successful Transfer Tips

1. Check with a prospective student advisor in the Faculty of Education or your advisor at Red Deer College about how you can determine if coursework you are taking is transferable and could potentially meet a degree requirement.

2. Use the Transfer Alberta website & Middle Years Transfer Guide/our University Calendar. Not all courses transfer between institutions - always make sure you check!

3. The sooner you apply to transfer, the better. We can keep you updated on your application and you can have earlier access to enroll in your classes.

4. Apply as early as possible for your chosen intake! Admission is competitive and based on a number of factors such as the number of qualified applicants to particular programs, the AGPA's presented by applicants, and capacity in individual programs.

*Always remember our program is subject to change and you will be subject to the admission requirements and program requirements at the time of your application and evaluation.

After Degree Applicants

  • Recognized 3-4 year degree from an accredited post-secondary institution
  • Competitive AGPA

After Degree Applicants

APPLICATION TIP: CHOOSING YOUR SECOND CHOICE

Every new applicant to the University of Alberta gets 2 choices on their application.

You can use this as your back-up, however, choosing Education as a second choice may not result in an admission offer. We may not evaluate your second choice until the end of the admission cycle, if there is room in your chosen program after evaluating all first priority applicants.

*If you are serious about pursuing multiple programs or routes, you may wish to submit 2 separate applications with Education as the first priority

*Accepting your offer to one program will not halt your second application. If you submit 2 separate applications, you will be evaluated for both and if you are admitted to both, you can make a choice.
