Exploring my past, present and future self

What is this about?

This is a presentation exploring my past, present and future self. As most of you know, I am Enoch a keen athlete and focused student. Throughout this presentation I will exhibit my goals and development of character which will help me mold myself into a reputable person in the world. To back my progress evidence has been curated and will also be visible during the presentation.

Examples of evidence I have used include, my word cloud, culture poster, values poster, IB Learner profile, career investigations as well as my weaknesses awareness. Through these I have portrayed my willingness explore myself, what and who has shaped me and who I want to be in the future.

Who am I?

Who I am can be expressed vividly through my culture poster and my word cloud. I believe they clearly show my characteristics, my background and how I will interact with people around me.

Values

My values also play a large role in who I am as they affect my decision making and how I perceive things around me whether it be at school or in the community. An example of this is choosing friends. I tend to become friends with those who share interests and have a positive impact on my life.

IB Learner Profile

As someone undertaking the International Baccalaureate, I hghly recognise the IB Learner profile as an example which expresses who I am. This profile allows students to recognise the general skills needed to excel in all endeavours of life, particularly school. I believe that I am a calculated person, who likes to take risks to maximise my potential and communicates well with others. I believe I can work on balancing my life and continue to make efforts in reflecting on my past and present.

Who do I want to be?

How do my values, ethics, strengths, weaknesses, sense of belonging and perceptions shape who I am and who I want to be?

My values, ethics, strengths, weaknesses, sense of belongin and perceptions shape who I am and who I want to be by making me see different situations, people or ideas in my own unique way. The factors above all affect how I think about myself and others and how I interact with people.

How do my values, ethics, strengths, weaknesses, sense of belonging and perceptions shape who I am and who I want to be?

Ethics

Ethics are the principles behind the 'right' or 'wrong' decision. My ethics shape me as I may read situations very differently to others and good outcomes for me, may be terrible outcomes for others. For example we were given a question in class to consider:

Should you tell your friends mum to pay for slightly more expensive movie tickets even though you know that money has been tight for them recently?

Personally, I would have let something like this go, knowing their current situation, but also taking into account how this will affect the staffers and the cinema company.

Ethics

Values

My values allow me to make difficult decisions during my life. Similar to ethics, values help you understand your morals and are a marker showing the attributes you want to express towards others. This has shaped me as I have inconsistent values to others, but this does not make me incompatibile with others. Rather it adds diversity, and with certain characterstics being favourable for majority of people, bonding with others is made even easier. This can result in new relationships that I may not have expected to encounter

Values

Strengths

My strengths shape me as I have learned, developed and used them to portray myself as the person I want to be seen as. They have also helped me succeed in endeavours both academic and sporting. It has also affected my relationships, attracting or losing friends who admire or dislike my strengths

Strengths

Weaknesses

My weaknesses have shaped me, as they have also played a part in portraying myself to others. It can result in me deterring people or possibly attracting people with similar weaknesses. Being able to understand and work on limiting my weaknesses also shapes me as it shows willlingness to improve yourself.

Weaknesses

Sense of belonging

Having a sense of belonging, has shaped me as it has allowed me to 'inherit' a place in the communities that I am a part of. My teachers, friends and family know me for my successes but also my failures, and I have realised that as much everyone says that they want to include and feel included, it only takes a small fault to make someone feel lost or alone. This fault or event can range from not agreeing with someone on a petty topic or a big event like telling a secret to the wrong person, which drastically affects another individuals reputation. Overall having a sense of belonging is key in shaping you as it is an indicator on how positively you interact with others.

Sense of belonging

Perceptions

Being able to perceive things in my immediate surroundings is key in shaping who I am. My perceptions of others especially are important. Seeing my parents and knowing the history of my family makes me want to strive for better results in life through hard work. Seeing my idols such as Michael Jordan, also makes me want to pursue my dreams and to go about it the same way he did. Overall I want to use what I see and hear to continue to build a foundation for myself in the future. This is how my perceptions are shaping me.
