There has been a remarkable discovery in Como, Italy. Around 300 gold coins were discovery in the basement of the Cressoni Theater, which opened in 1870 and closed in the 1990s. With the construction of a luxury residence underway on the site construction workers unearthed a small stone jar containing the gold coins
They are presumed to be from the late Roman imperial era, as they have engravings of the emperors Honorius , Valentinian III, Leon I, Antonio, and Libio Severo. Unlike many other artifacts, the condition of the coins was outstanding. Luca Rinaldi, the local archaeology superintendent, said, .................... are stuck together, but these are all separate. It was like opening a wallet."
Culture Minister Alberto Bonisoil applauded the discovery and said, "More than exceptional, it' sepochal-one of those discoveries that marks the course of history." The Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities announced that the coins were moved to a laboratory in milan for retoration and further research.
