WHAT IS FAIR TRADE

FAIR TRADE

Fair trade is a global movement aimed at promoting social, economic, and environmental justice in international trade. It aims to create fairer trading conditions for producers, particularly in developing countries, and to ensure that they receive a fair price for their products.

BASIC PRINCIPLES

The basic principle of fair trade is to provide better trading conditions for marginalized producers and workers in developing countries, particularly in the agriculture and handicraft sectors.

THE AIMS

Overall, fair trade aims to promote social justice, alleviate poverty, and create sustainable livelihoods for marginalized producers and workers in developing countries. It also aims to raise awareness among consumers about the impact of their purchasing choices on people and the planet, and encourages them to make more ethical and sustainable choices.

The Fairtrade International organization is the most well-known fair trade certification scheme, which certifies products such as coffee, cocoa, tea, bananas, and sugar. Products that meet Fairtrade standards are marked with the Fairtrade logo, which indicates that the product was produced and traded in accordance with Fairtrade standards.
