A service project to provide free clean drinking water to villages with extreme lack of portable water in India.
Swami's Mandate:
Provide clean drinking water throughout the year to as many people possible in the short amount of time
- Project has begun in the year of 1995
- Directed by the Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust with the collaboration of the Government of Andhra Pradesh
The four schemes involved were:
Shallow wells that pump water into natural ground water outside of a riverbed
A structure used to store water in dry locations. The water supply for the storage tank will be provided naturally by the river's flow, or the tank will be pumped with water and maintained on a regular basis.
A deep and narrow well which involved drilling and installing submerge pumps to draw out the water.
A process of extracting water from an existing watering dam and transferring it to villages through a system of pipes.
