in Field Study 1

OHS-CSS

A. Learning Competency/ Content Standards

The learners demonstrate and understanding of concepts and underlying principles in performing computer operations.

I. OBJECTIVES

The learners shall be able to perform computer operations based on a given tasks.

B. Learning Outcome/ Performance Standards

C. Learning Competencies Objectives (write the LC code)

LO 1. Plan and Prepare for Configuration of Computer Systems and Networks.

a) Follow Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) procedures in planning and preparing for configuration of computer systems and networks;

(TLE_IACSS9-12PCO-Ic-d-4)

At the end of the lesson, the students should be able to:

D. Learning Objectives

a. discuss and identify the different OHS procedures in planning and preparing for configuration of computer systems and networks;

b. execute a roleplay showing the observance of following OHS; and

c. value the relevance of following occupational health and safety procedures.

4. Reminder on Online Classroom Rules

a. Mute your microphone when you are not speaking.

b. Respect the speaker by listening attentively. If I ask you a yes or no answerable question, you may type your response in our chat box.

c. If you have any question/s and/or want to answer by reasoning out, you may type “me or mine” in our chat box as well so that I may recognize you.

d. Prepare necessary materials such as pen, paper, and self-learning modules.

• PowerPoint presentation/prezi for the delivery of the lesson;

• Guess the Picture? Using canva presentation for the motivation;

• Whellofnames.com for finding practical applications of concepts;

• for Making Generalizations and Abstractions about the Lesson, we will be using Mentimeter.com; and

• Kahoot.com for evaluating your learning. Are we clear class?

5. Orientation on the Teaching Strategies to be Used

have you ever used or rented a desktop computer?

A. Reviewing Previous Lesson or Presenting the New Lesson

What are the practices you do when you are on a rented computer or your own desktop computer to ensure safety?

a. clutter - a collection of things lying about in an untidy mass.

b. dispose – get rid of by throwing away or giving or selling to someone else.

c. sturdy– (of a person or their body) strongly and solidly built.

Unlocking of Difficulties

B. Motivation

Plan and Prepare for Configuration of Computer Systems and Networks.

C. Lesson Proper

OHS

Health and safety are of the outmost importance. People do not just realize just

how dangerous it can be, usually they often ignore the risk involved in opening and

operating a computer. It is vital to stay safe in every working conditions. Whether you

are a professional or a beginner staying safe must be put into priority to prevent

troubles and damage to any person or to any object in a work area.

A safe workspace is clean, systematized, and well-lit. A hazardous computer

component must dispose or recycled properly. Make it a habit to follow guidelines that

direct how to dispose specific items. When an individual violates these rules, there

can be legal penalties.

9 GENERAL SAFETY STRATEGIES

9 General Safety Strategies

Topic

Removing conductive materials such as metal rings and watches is a

must to avoid being shocked by electricity.

Topic

Even when unplugged power supplies can retain dangerous voltage.

Topic

Topic

Be sensitive about smell on something burning, see a component

that is burnt or hear something that does not sound not normal, immediately

stop what you are doing and make sure to check the abnormality, remove

and replace as soon as possible

Lift heavy objects with sturdy leg support to avoid back injury

Topic

Topic

Turn off the power and unplug equipment before opening the case and

performing service

Topic

Make sure that a fire extinguisher is rated for class A, B, & C and it is within a reasonable distance from your computer installation. If you leave your computer on

and unattended for whatever reason, turn off the monitor during your absence.

Monitors generate high voltage internally which is potential to start an electrical fire.

FIRE SAFETY GUIDELINES

Topic

Note: The switch for the monitor is usually located at the bottom, side or rear

of the screen. Turning off the monitor leaves the computer On and will not disrupt the

computers operation or compromise data losses. When you return, simply turn the

monitors back on ant wait for few seconds to warm up. Ensure that your facilities meet

local fire safety codes

Topic

When working with computer components, always consider the possibility of

an accidental fire and prepare how to react.

If there is a fire, you should follow these safety procedures

• Make sure to know all the locations of all exits for a fire escape route

before beginning any work.

  • Take a minute to think which way you would go to escape your place.

• Never fight a fire that is out of control or not contained.

Get out of the building quickly in case of an out-of-control fire.

• Contact emergency services immediately for help.
