Code of Ethics

Integrity

The definition of integrity is doing what is right when no one is around. I believe this value is needed in this field. Similar to the principle of Veracity “seek and convey truth in our words and actions.” To me this is one of the most important, because people put their trust in us for so many aspects of their collegiate careers.

Respect

Transparency

What are Jacoby's Core Values

I want to live my life with as much openness as I can, and in the educational field there are many times that we have vulnerable. In that i believe you have to be clear as can be, whether it be something that you are denying. It can also show up when you are trying to have a student understand. Similar to the Principle Justice “promote human dignity and endorse equality and fairness for everyone.”

As professionals we should hold ourselves to a different standard, in how we act and especially how we treat people. This profession is very relationship based, and people will always remember how you treated them. I want one of my goals or attributes where I have a give and take relationship with respect. You also don't know how simple respect for a person will change them and how they see themselves. Similar to the CAS principle, Beneficence “actions that promote goodness and contribute to the health and welfare of others”.

When I first heard the term core value I thought about the characters from inside out and what they wold look like

Accountability

My mother always taught me to make my own decisions and to be able to own each decision no matter the outcome. I believe that accountability is very needed because of the importance of our jobs. We are working with people in a very delicate time in their lives, the amount that is on their plate. I am not saying that this can only be used in negative light, it is very similar to the CAS principle of Autonomy. “We take responsibility for and our actions both support and empower an individuals and groups freedom of choice”
