My grandma is the only alive grandparent on my dad's side. Her name is Yeshimembet Tefera Silga and was born in 1944. My late grandfather's name was Abarraa Fayisaa Daba and he was born in 1942 and died in 2014. My grandparents got married in 1969. They had six kids, including my dad.

My grandparents had 6 children all together. Their names are Lijalem Abarraa Daba, Amanu'eel Abarraa Daba, Gemechis Abarraa Daba, Paulous Abarraa Daba, Gemechu Abarra Daba, and . Sadly, I never got to meet my Uncle Amanu'eel because he died from a conflict in 2006.

Grandfather
My grandfather was a very christian man who wanted to do all he could to help the people in his area. He owned a clinic in his small village of Dembi Dolo that he would use to give medication to the people that needed it because they lived in such a rural area. He started to build a small hospital although he died before it could be finished.

My great great grandfather on my mom's side was named Bushaan Me'di. My great great grandmother's named Taitu Coichi. They had six kids together. My mom was not actually raised by her mother but by her grandmother for most of her life.

My grandma and grandpa are both alive on my moms side. Their names are Martha Gobu and Akawak Damera. My grandfather was born in 1954 and my grandmother was born in 1953. They got married in 1979, and then had their first child the next year.

My grandparents had four children. Their names in chronological order are Lelise Damera, Jiregna Damera, Abdi Damera, and Sena Damera. All children have moved out pursue different things in their lives. Here are pictures of them.

My mother, Lelise Akawak Damara, was born on March 12, 1980 and was raised in Addis Abba, Ethiopia. My father, Paul Gemechu Daba, was born on December 25, 1982 in Dembi Dolo, Ethiopia. They met in highschool and got married on January 31, 2004

My mothers first job was as a banker. She tells me that they would play card games on their computers whenever their boss wasn't paying attention. When she moved to Winnipeg, she then worked at a care home. My dad's first job was as a construction worker but then moved on to be an entrepreneur. He currently owns four businesses in Regina and works hard in all of them.

Conclusion
I learned a lot about the origins of my family and what they have gone through from my great great grandparents all the way to me. I have seen that many things that impacted my parents and grandparents do not affect me thanks to sacrifices they have made. I am thankful that I was able to dig deeper into learning more about my identity surrounding my family.
