Timely

Set deadlines for the goal.

Comparing sleep to my other daily activities I would rank it as number one for many reasons. With all the different movement and excersice I do on my daily life I require the high amounts of energy I get from sleeping. In other words without sleep the ability to do the other activities in my day would not be possible.

What is sleep deprivation and how does it affect us?

Goal objective 3

Average American Sleep Hours

Average American College Student

The effects of sleep deprivation come in different forms. Most noticeably, sleep deprivation causes a lack of concentration that affects students ability to learn. Other issues that arise are an increased risk of metal health issues, being more likely to get sick, and an overall feeling of stress.

An article by Single Care, an organization based on helping identifying health issues, states that "the average person gets less than seven hours of sleep."

After thorough analysis and consulting research from the University of Health, the average number of sleep hours college students obtain is roughly 6-6.9 hours. This is due to the fact that many students are overloaded with work which often causes them to sacrifice sleep for good grades.

Comparison

My Personal Assesment of Sleep PT. 1

While it does appear that the average American college students and the average American citizen aquire the same hours of sleep, there is a difference in their quality of sleep. Where as American citizen are more likely to obtain better sleep than the college students due to not having the overwhelming amount of work the college students have.

After performing my own sleep assesment I performed lower than I believed. My sleep score was 16 which was right in the middle. After my own personal evaluation I belive that in order for me to perform at my best I need more than 7 hours of sleep. I was able to come to this conclusion after carefully analyzing my perfromance and motivation for school.

My Personal Assesment of Sleep PT. 2

The average hours of sleep I got through the weekdays was around 5 hours. As for weekends I averaged at around 9 hours. I believed that after many nights writing what would bother my mind that stopped me from sleeping fully, I came to the conclusion that it was the overwhelming thoughts of work storming my mind. I would like to add a shower right before my sleep to help reduce stress.
