Many of us are working from home for the first time, and are likely to be doing so for a more sustained period than ever before. This can be especially challenging when many of us are juggling home commitments, caring responsibilities and general worries over these uncertain times.
These tips aim to help you set up your work space, stay connected to each other, and manage
your time and well-being.
Unfortunately Ged can't visit us all for his legendary desktop assessments, and we don't all have a dedicated home office to work from.
Try to create a working space that is comfortable - good ventilation, proper lighting, good ergonomics, and comfortable furniture are things to consider.
It's easy to feel isolated when working at home. The kettle conversations that play an important part in normal office life can be a huge miss.
So make a point of picking up the phone instead of sending an email - even if it's not work related. Check in with your colleagues and embrace social messaging and banter via Teams. Whatever works for you - as long as it fills the social gap.
Take a breather by getting some fresh air (wash your hands afterwards!) or do an activity such as yoga to help you recharge.

Help keep work and home separate by being clear on when your working day/week has ended.
Whether it's simply powering down and closing the laptop lid, or packing away your kit completely, having a clear 'end of day' routine will help to separate your workspace and home life.
It's natural to feel anxious with so much uncertainty around us. Some people find limiting their time spent on news sites and social media can help. Find what works for you.
