OpenAir Inhale

By: Avery Outcalt, Jacob Burton, Kyla Fincher

Design Process

Function:

Our smart inhaler will ultimately be just a base inhaler with a Bluetooth device built-in that will be able to track and record information from when the device was taken to when to take the medication.

Design

Form:

It will look like a normal inhaler, but with a Bluetooth device built-in.

Form & Safety

Safety:

Our device will ensure safety by providing privacy by only letting patients information go between the patient and the doctor.

Jacob

Aesthetic:

The inhaler will look attractive to the customer by being compact so it won’t be a hassle to store in a purse or a pocket on the go.

Target Consumers: Asthma Patients or people with COPD.

Design Brief

Problem Statement: Doctors receive complaints from patients who always forget to use their inhaler when needed and/or lose their inhaler. Pharmacists complain of always having to renew patients’ inhalers.

Design Statement:

Design an innovation that will help asthma patients and people who use inhalers to never forget their inhaler and inform them of when they must use their inhaler.

Constraints:

1) Must be connectable to Bluetooth

2) Must be small enough to fit in a pocket

3) Must notify patients when the inhaler needs to be refilled

4) Notifications must be enabled to become silent but the notification must still pop up.
