In a nutshell, HSC really has two main goals:
1. Organize events that will help build a sense of community among the Baruch Honors students.
2. Act as a "middle man" and help voice any student concerns and opinions to the Honors Program.
If you want to do your part in enhancing the Honor student experience, then you should consider joining HSC!
Let's hear from the current members to see why they decided to join:
"Since the group of honors students is relatively small, I wanted to make my voice heard so that the Honors community would be more inclusive. Since the community is often bombarded with schoolwork, we are constantly planning events to alleviate that stress"
"When I first joined Baruch, I wanted to get involved in the Honors community and interact with other students. HSC helped me get experience in event planning and build my leadership skills"
"I decided to join HSC in order to help voice student concerns to the Honors administrative staff. HSC was also a chance for me to connect more within the Honors community by planning events"
"I joined because I was very interested in having a more "hands on" Honor-student experience, while also improving my own organization and communication skills"
HSC organizes many different types of events that you can be a part of!
From social events to volunteering to mentoring, HSC aims to help the Honors students in any way that we can.
Regardless of what you are interested in, there is something in HSC for you!
These are really aimed to ensure that the Honors students are interacting with one another, creating memories, and behaving like a true community.
Some have included:
Suggestion for a Slice, where students get a free slice of pizza in exchange for giving a suggestion of how HSC or the Honors Program can improve
Winter Social, where students celebrate the end of the Fall semester with music, games, food, and activities
Ice Cream Social, where students can enjoy the warm weather with some free ice cream
These events are meant to give students the opportunity to help their communities and impact the world in a meaningful way.
Some have included:
AFSP Out of Darkness Walk, where students are able to help raise funds and awareness for suicide prevention.
American Lung Association's Climb for Air, where students can do their part in fighting for lung health
These events are aimed to help students excel in their academic and professional lives!
Some have included:
Freshman Help Day, where upperclassmen help students figure out how to make their own schedules
Mentoring Program, where lowerclassmen are paired with upperclassmen and given professional, academic, and social advice for the whole school year
