“But I reckon I got to light out for the Territory ahead of the rest, because Aunt Sally she’s going to adopt me and civilize me and I can’t stand it. I been there before,” (Twain 338).
This quote shows how much Huck hates being civil; he enjoys being free and in nature. He also compares it to when Widow Douglas tried to do the same thing. He thinks this societies style of living isn’t actually “living”, it’s like surviving.

This article talks about issues that we have with our society and our government. In Huck Finn it doesn’t address government debt but it does address other problems that during that date and time was an issue. So in a sense it’s related by the problems caused by the people. In this article it mostly talks about ‘shameful trends’ and lawsuits.
"The sun was up so high when I waked, that I judged it was after eight o' clock" (Twain 49).
This shows how Huck's knowledge about nature is higher than anything he learned in society. Huck grew up with street smarts and finds comfort in those rather than religion or education.

This isn’t necessarily an article but Huck would definitely want to be apart of the Nature Conservancy mission. In the book Huck repeatedly speaks about how much he adores nature.
“Well, by and by somebody said Sherburn ought to be lynched. In about a minute everybody was saying it; so away they went, mad and yelling. And snatching down every clothesline they come to to do the hanging” (Twain 145).
Now this one is important because it shows the mob mentality that we spoke about in class. This shows how society is potent with toxicity and that when one person follows the crowd, so does everything else.

This article basically talks about America and it’s history of mob mentality. An example it uses is actually something we’ve learned in this class previously; The Salem Witch Trials. In that instant, the people of the town followed the group because of peer pressure and to save themselves.
