Personally I think they become an adult whenever they take care of themselves. But maybe my choice will change by the end.
I think whenever a teen's brain is matured enough, they can take care of themselves.
This means that according to some recent studies, teens tend to mature much later than we previously assumed.
I interpreted this as the author saying we should make teens move out once they're 18. This means that they would be able to adult/mature quicker. Further proving my point that moving out helps students become adults.
Students who depended on their parents the older they got ended up having a harder time maturing. It was much harder for them to take care of themselves.
I included this as a counterargument since I also agree with this point. I think that teens also should be over 18. But I don't completely think that they are an adult just because they're over 18.
I think you have to be over the age of 18 for me to consider you and adult. But you also have to take care of yourself. Pay your bills, live alone, buy your own groceries, etc. But if you're under the age of 18 and you still do all those things, I don't consider you and adult.
You have to be able to take care of yourself and over the age of 18 to be an adult.
