Physical Patterns in a Changing World

Tropical Climates

Tropical Climates

Tropical climates extend northward and southward from the equator to about 15 to 25 of latitude. The temparture in all the months in this climate is greater than 18 degrees celcius. Every year the precipitation is greater than 1500 mm.

Dry Climates

Dry Climates

the most obvious climatic feature in this climate is that the show the potential to evaporation and transportation exceed the percipitation. This climate is from 20 to 35 degrees north and south of the equator and is in large continental region of the mid-latitiude generally surronded by montains. Minor exampes of this climate include: desert. It covers 12% of the earths surface. Another example is steppe. Steppe us a grassland climate that covers 14% of the earths land surface.

Polar Climates

Polar Climates

Polae climates are cold all year. The warmest month has a tempature thats less than 10 degrees celcius. Polar climates are found on the norhtern coastal areas of North America, Europe, Asia, and on the landmasses of greenland and Antarctica. There are two minor climate types excist. Polar tundra is a climate where the soil is permanently frozen to depths of hundreds of meters. That is called permafrost. The main vegetation is dominated by mosses, lichens, dwarf trees and scattered woody shrubs. Polar ice caps have a surface that is permanenently covered with snow and ice.

Continental Climate Zone

Continental Climate Zone

Continental climate is a climate that is characterized by import variation in tempature every year due to the lack of significant bodies of waters nearby. The winter tempature is genrally cold enough to support a fixed period of snow each year. There is moderate precipitatiion happens mostly in summer. There are exceptions such as the upper east coast areas of north america in canada which show an even distributing of precipitation. The parttern for thtat is called humid continental climate. regions with continental clime exist in portions of the northern hemisphere continents.

Temperate regions

This is the most varied climate system in the world and is divided into two main types. The maritime and the continental. Maritime temperate regions are found in areas near coasts where the sea and onshore winds provide rain and help to keep the tempatures level throughout the year. Continental temperate regions have more pronounced dry periods and as there is less of a moderaq12ting influence by sea. temperates generally are hotter in the summer and colder in the winter. Typical characteristics of temperate regions include being found between the tropic of cancer and the arctic antarctic circle in the southernhemisphere. Temperates generally have four seasons. spring, summer, winter, and fall. The weather in these seasons will vary meaning rain fog and lower tempature may not be uncommon even in summer.

The differences and simillaritys bettween the climate zones

The differences and simillaritys bettween the climate zones

Differences

  • They all have very different tempatures.
  • They all have different weather.
  • Some of them have 1 season and some have 4
  • There found in different places. some are found in the desert some are found in the arctic.

Simillaritys

  • Some of the climate zones have 4 seasons.
  • They all have a warmer month in there zone.
  • They all have some plants growing in there climate zone
