  • 1,368 and 1,362 feet tall (417 and 415 meters)
  • "The buildings were made up of 200,000 tons of steel, weighed 1.5 million tons, used 250,000 gallons of paint, had 43,600 windows, 239 lifts, 71 escalators and had 2,000 parking spaces."

What Happened on 9/11?

  • On September 11, 2001, terrorists attacked the Unites States.

What Happened

  • In all, nearly 3,000 people were killed in the 9/11 attacks.

  • 8:46 - Flight 11 crashes into the north face of the North Tower of the World Trade Center, between floors 93 and 99.
  • 9:03 - Flight 175 crashes into the south face of the South Tower of the World Trade Center, between floors 77 and 85.
  • 9:37 - Flight 77 crashes into the western side of The Pentagon and starts a violent fire.
  • 9:45 United States airspace is shut down
  • 9:59 - The South Tower of the World Trade Center collapses, 56 minutes after the impact of Flight 175.
  • 10:28 - The North Tower of the World Trade Center collapses, 1 hour, 42 minutes after the impact of Flight 11.
  • 5:20 p.m. - 7 World Trade Center, a 47-story building, collapses.
