Auditory vs. Visual Memory

Brianna San Miguel

Project Rational

Rational

Short-term memory is the ability to remeber and process informaton. Typically around 7 items are stored in the mind ready for use for a limited amount of time. Visual memory is the ability to take in an image and store that image in your mind for later use. Auditory memory is to take information orally, store it in the mind and remeber what you heard. I want to test which type of memory last the longest. It could show a method of studying for when a student has exams. Will it be better to see a visual or listen to a lecture when studying a topic?

Research Questions

Reaserch Questions

  • Which type of memory last the longest?
  • Which method will help ypu study?
  • How long will short-term memory last?

Hypothesis

Hypothesis

If I give the participants a visual and auditory test, then the results will show that visual memory is longer lasting than auditory memory.

Conclusion

My hypothesis was correct. Most particpants remebered more visual dates than auditory dates.

  • Which type of memory last the longest? Visual memory last longer than auditory memory.
  • Which method will help you study? Reading an artical or notes will help you study than listening to the informatin.
  • How long does short term memory last? Short-term memory last for about 30 seconds.

Future Studies

If I were to redo this experiment, I would get more participants. I will also add variables such color and how it affects memory.
