What Are Solar Eclipses?

Solar Eclipses will happen when the moon passes the sun blocking the earths veiw of the sun. These Happen every 18 months in different locations so it seems longer to happen.

Lunar Eclipses are when the earth's shadow makes the moon Appear darker. these happen 2 times a year on avrage

Fun Fact: In 2020 a Lunar Eclipse is going to happen 4 times!

To Veiw a Solar Eclipse you must have some saftey There are 2 different ways you may veiw a Solar Eclipse

1: Solar Glasses

2: Pinhole Veiwer

You Must have one of these if you want to see the Eclipse. you cannot use your sunglasses.

Solar Glasses are the first way you can veiw the Solar Eclipse

How They Work: The lenses in the solar glasses are very special. they are very thick and dark so you may look at the sun or Eclipse Derectly They can be made of paper for a one time use, Or Plastic if you want to look at the sun alot. both of the types still have the lenses for your saftey.

Fun Fact: The Lenses in the glasses will filter the suns rays 100,000 times!

The Pinhole Veiwer is the second way to veiw a Eclipse.

How it works: The Pinhole veiwer uses binoculars that are angled at the sun to make the Sun apear on a piece of paper or other material.

You should NEVER look at the sun or a Eclipse Derectly. Some Common things that could happen are:

1: Snow Blindness

2: Arc Eye

3: Welder's Flash

4: Bake Eyes

Fun Fact: During a total eclipse you may look at it without saftey but it is a risk you might not want to take.

A partial Eclipse Happens when a part of the sun is blocked in any way. it does not matter weither it is the moon or the other 2 planets betwen us and the sun. it is a partial eclipse.
