2. Have knowledge of the events that take place during Hajj

3.Be aware of the purposes of pilgrimage to a Muslim

Eid ul-Fitr (EID)

The word Eid means festival and is used as part of many names for religious events in the Muslim world.

Eid ul-Fitr (EID)

What is it?

  • A three day celebration that Signifies the end of Ramadan.
  • Start of the 10th month in the Muslim calendar.
  • NExt Year: 2nd May

  • Eid is a time of both prayer and celebration.

  • Muslims will often decorate their houses, eat feasts and give each other gifts and cards.
  • It is also a popular time for
  • Muslims to be married.

  • This is similar to Christmas

and Hanukkah in the Christian

and Jewish traditions.

What Happens?

  • Before the celebrations begin Muslim families attend Mosque to thank God (Allah) that their time of fasting is complete.

  • They are reminded by the Imam that Muhammed promised that those who complete the fast will recieve both pleasure on earth.

  • They are told of the reward that they will also recieve upon reaching heaven.
