The image I chose is of 3 signs pointing all in different directions. This relates to morality and conscience because only you can decide the path you take whether, its right, wrong or it depends; remember that not deciding is still deciding.
• HERO
○ Mr. Rogers could be considered a hero because he wanted to let every child know that they were loved just the way they are in a world where everyone was not a fan of his views/kindness in the community (aka his neighborhood).
○ My mom is my personal hero because she does everything she can so I have my life together. My mom overcomes difficulties every day in her schedule of juggling the struggles of work, driving me to after school activities, and making sure I'm on top of all my work at school and at home. She makes sacrifices for me and my family every day and I'm so thankful that she is my hero.
○ Explain the three ways that conscience is sometimes understood in popular culture.
○ Why are all three insufficient to express all that conscience involves?
§ Because sometimes conscience isn't just right and wrong, it's deciding what you feel is best in that specific situation and it's hard to define since everyone has their unique conscience.
o Psalm 119: 41-48 – How does it describe the formation of the author’s conscience? What words/phrase stand out and why?
○ It describes the formation of the author's conscience as one that is often taunted by wrongs but he is determined obedient to God. When it says, "I will always obey your law, for ever and ever." (Psalm 119:43), it stood out to me because even though other things will taunt him to do wrong, he is sure that he will still follow God and reach for his commands.
You and your friends go shopping at the Towson mall on a Sunday afternoon. You are all having a great time and your friends, Shannon and Jamie, suggest that you should all go into the Apple Store to check out the new technology available. As soon as you walk in, Shannon gravitates to some new Air Pods left out on the counter, where one of the employees were formally assisting a costumer with. Shannon thinks it's funny to sneak around the counter and slip the box of brand new Air Pods into her purse as a joke. You know what they did is wrong but you think to yourself that they're your friends and you don't want to make a big deal. A few seconds later, Jamie follows Shannon's example by going to the counter and grabbing a bunch of expensive ear buds. You stand there observing speechlessly. They both laugh as they walk back to you claiming that it was so easy to take those. You feel uneasy and choose to speak up to Shannon. She claims that if anyone is told about this that she will befriend you. However, Jamie just claims that you saw nothing and how she didn't know it wasn't okay because her and Shannon always do those kind of things. You decide to stay quiet about it, but constantly question your decision to NOT decide.
