W Polsce ze względu na skład gatunkowy i wilgotność wyróżnia się kilka typów lasów liściastych:
- Grądy
- Łęgi
- Olsy
- Buczyny
Na terytorium naszego kraju występuje więcej lasów iglastych- jest to ponad 3/4 wszystkich lasów, a wśód nich dominuje sosna. Nieco mniejszym udziałem odznaczają się lasy liściaste. Jest to typ lasów charakteryzujących się dominacją drzew liściastych.
