The Esophagus

The food goes down the esophagus. Peristalsis helps the food go down and land in the stomach. The wave like muscle contractions help food go down a lot easier.

The Stomach

The stomach has hydrochloric acid that helps the food be digested. Pepsin helps break down proteins and lipase helps break down lipids. The churning helps the food be broken down even more. It turn the food into chyme. Chyme is a liquid state food that has acid and hormone mixed with it

The Duodenum

Protease breaks down the proteins and amylase breakes down the sugar in the chyme. The liver gets rid of all the bad stuff in the food so all the nutriets are absorbed
