Amazing Adaptations

Lizards, which are the king of all reptile, have truly conqured the four corners of the globe. Over 4,000 types of lizards were discovered world wide by scientists. The Galapagos Marine Iguana (Amblyrhynchus Cristalus) can be argued to be the best of the best of lizard species.

Appearance:

Dreary scales which turn red, blue and green during mating season; a razor-sharp encrusted face and a row of barbed spines along its back: these are some of the distinguishing features of the Marine Iguana. Another interesting characteristic is their large muscular limbs, which allows them to swim. This phenomenal creature has the ability to detach and regrow its tail. Additionally, they can camouflage to their surroundings to hide from their preditors.
