Ignatius of Antioch was born in Syria, 35 AD. He died in Rome, Italy, 108 AD. During his life he became a bishop and taught lots of people in the world. It was only a small amount but it had a big impact.
His Role
He was a bishop that wrote letters about the holy trinity. He was an important source of knowledge so he helped people learn about the early church.
Ignatius of Antioch is important because he was an influential leader. He is known for his own writings. The letters he wrote, reveal his personality and the impact on Christianity of his time. Ignatius and Polycarp was disciples of John the Apostle. Later in life he was chosen to serve as bishop of Antioch.
St Ignatius of Antioch wrote letters about how he represented Christianity. He also wrote seven letters about early Christianity the seven letters he wrote were:
- The Epistle to the Ephesians
- The Epistle to the Magnesians
- The Epistle to the Trallians
- The Epistle to the Romans
- The Epistle to the Philadelphians
- The Epistle to the Smyrnaeans
- The Epistle to Polycarp, a bishop of Smyrna
His Legacy
St. Ignatius of Antioch showed the people of the church how to be productive and how to be protective. His life goal was to show the world what Christ did and how he showed the world God's message.
St. Ignatius of Antioch impacted the early catholic church by writing letters and telling the church his writings that he think will mean something to them. He also wrote them because it will help the believe in God and Jesus. then they will passed on to other church's and people.
